Course Series
History Jukebox
A rotating history series where students explore people and events, study the story behind them, and create songs that communicate what they learned.
This session
- Length: 6 weeks
- Each session centers on a focused set of historical people, events, or themes
- Students use self-paced history work during the week, then meet for one live online event each week
- Live time includes discussion, song analysis, historical easter eggs, genre choices, and creative song-building activities
- Older students may build a topical track list, discography, or mini-album around the unit
What families should know
- Students may work with outlines, short research tasks, writing, worksheets, primary-source excerpts, or historical readings
- Song styles can be intentionally varied, from pop and classical to playful genre twists that spark discussion
- Students use school-guided creative tools to make songs and sometimes covers or simple media around the topic
- Materials and access details vary by session and are shared before kickoff
